I have finally been able to catch up on my book reviews for my book club Soul, Sass, & Sip. I have taken on so much while completing my Master's degree (superwoman syndrome) it’s no wonder I fell behind.
Now that I have finished my Master's and had so much needed rest, relaxation, and reflection I am ready to jump in the pool with both feet and I don't care if the water is cold. I feel rededicated and can't wait to share with you guys my reviews of some of the wonderful books I have had the opportunity to read.
This review is from book titled; Infinite Words: A Comprehensive Guide to Writing and Publishing by well-known Author Zane best known for her erotic fiction such as Addicted and Sex Chronicles. This book is a must read for aspiring and beginning writers because it gives you a complete overall of the entire industry. The book is only 198 pages but the Author does a fantastic job of giving you what you need in a clear and concise manner.
The book provides information from developing a writing habit, proper sentence structure, and character development. What I also like about this book is it goes into detail the simple mistakes anyone but mostly overzealous new writers can make, such as spelling and grammatical errors. What Zane is teaching is more than how to be a good writer it’s about loving and respecting the craft of writing. The guide provides information about developing the proper writing techniques for your book to sell giving you longevity as a writer. The author also adds other little tidbits about how you carry yourself as a professional within the industry which I was impressed by because other guides do not touch on the subject of professionalism within the literary world.
The publishing industry has changed from 10 years ago and is still evolving. The guide offers a section on the publishing business which many writers forget that it is really a business. The guide provides information about the role of Publishers, Literary Agents, and the Publishing industry. This is invaluable information for aspiring writers because it helps us navigate the waters of the literary world. Many aspiring writers don't understand the business side of writing and the daunting tasks of publishers and agents helping authors get published. The guide will help aspiring writers understand the importance of professionalism and patience and how not to burn bridges which can destroy a writer's career forever. The guide illustrates how digital publishing has opened new doors and possibilities to aspiring writers but requires more responsibility.
I would definitely recommend this book to an aspiring writer or someone who has just written their first book as a review guide. This guide teaches writers how to fall in love with their craft. Its your baby and it your job to nurture it, develop it, protect it, and when the time comes let it out into the world. It does not matter whether you intend to get a publishing contract or self-publish this guide is a must read to help you create work to be proud of leaving a legacy for generations to come.
